If you’ve ever checked out the “Rant and Raves” section on the Craigslist Web site (http://sandiego.craigslist.org), you’ve probably read some of the weirdest, most offensive shit ever. People post everything from photos of their genitalia (or someone else’s) to seriously racist and homophobic messages. Anything goes, and it’s all unedited and uncensored. Careful, reading it can become addictive, especially if you’re bored at work or have serious time to kill.

Looking for gay-related posts, I simply typed in the word “gay” and found some hilarious stuff. Here’s a few postings from the last few weeks:

Hillcrest used to be a “cool”, edgy place with a lot of character. Even though I’m not gay, I enjoyed the occasional visit to the ‘hood for some good eats. However, the rising amount of homeless, small-time crooks, and generally weird-ass people have taken the shine off the place. The gays made Hillcrest cool, and now they’re moving out in droves to surrounding areas. North Park, Golden Hill, even OMG, south of 94!

First I’d like to state that I am a gay man, so don’t call me a homophobe for my views but...

Hillcrest (to me) was always a rats nest filled with pure shit!

In my opnion, the words cool and “edgy” never meant a strip of gay bars, adult bookstores and trinket shops selling Judy Garland magnets, Bettie Page mugs, Penis Pasta & Marylin Monroe greeting cards.

I’ve always avoided going to Hillcrest for dining and opted for a more conservative and safer experience like La Jolla cove or Del Mar. Even the gaslamp is better - and that ain’t saying much.

Any change (in Hillcrest) has to be good, if big corporations want to build malls and chain stores, fine - maybe it will diversify the area and it wouldn’t be such a ghetto.

it makes everything more difficult. less people to choose from first off. and how the f*ck do you know who to hit on. Is there any way to tell whos on “your team”??? I wish I could be straight, but penis is so gross and men are just..gross.

These “bareback” slut guys and female prositutes are spreading HIV/AIDS and don’t care, because the medicines are keeping them alive now. The problem to me is, HIV poz people are consuming $1,000 a month in medicine. (Which they get for a $10 co-pay from Kaiser). I’m happy they are not dying now, but upset that they are not more careful with their disease. Now, when you are a HIV poz, AIDS is postponable and gays are acting like they don’t have it. Just look at the m4m ads. They say HIV poz, “bareback”(no condom). What the hell, man. If you are HIV poz, NO MORE SEX FOR YOU. JUST JACK OFF TO PORN!!! JESUS CHRIST, MAN!! YOU ARE DONE WITH SEX!!.

An average HIV/AIDS case cost more than a million dollars in healthcare by the time the infected person dies.

That is why I pay over $270 for each employee to get healthcare they don’t even use.

Just my RANT for today. I was just really pissed off when I paid my Kaiser bill right now.

FYI, I live in Hillcrest, and have gay friends. Just getting annoyed with the feeling that HIV isn’t going to kill you anymore, so it doesn’t matter.

Hey, we will outcast, witchhunt, and scapegoat all of the assinine baby boomers and FAT people keeping our insurance premiums high too when you need critical care for you’re stroke related illnesses and diabetes. Maybe it’s Kaiser. You know Aetna is pretty good. However each individual has higher rates according to how risky their behavior is.

By the way – Mr. Negativity, Merck created this wonder vaccine that PREVENTS HPV. Have you heard of it? God bless modern medicine. Go tell it to the mountain! That amazing will keep your premiums down as long as the expired starch in your office vending machine is putting your employees at risk for heart related illnesses due to obesity. I think the team that developed this deserves a Nobel Prize before Bono does.

Mr. Myopia, the highest increase group of HIV & HPV outbreaks occur in young STRAIGHT females. If you hate this desease so much, why don’t you tell low self esteemed STRAIGHTS to stop having unprotected sex?

And why don’t you support Aids research?

There’s a good chance for a vaccine they will come up with a vaccine for AIDS, and you never know (hopefully) they’re going to find a cure for both diseases. I personally know victims of both who make huge contributions to their friends, family, and community.
