Barfly
October has been an exciting month. There have been so many fun nights out and special events around town, and Halloween hasn’t even hit yet! Also, the weather’s cooling down, and I’m noticing more and more boys coming out in their sexy fall fashions. There’s something about a man dressed up in a cool autumn outfit that is so much sexier than the typical sandals and Abercrombie shorts attire that is played out ad nauseam in the summer months. The holidays are upon us and the fun is just beginning.
Turnabout
I popped into Bacchus House for their fifth annual Turnabout show on Saturday, Oct. 7. This event has become a yearly favorite in our bar scene. Our favorite Bacchus House staff members appear for one night in drag, and, with a few exceptions, they all looked fabulous! We were treated to a fantastic show hosted by Coco LaChine and got to see a different side of the bartenders and staff at my favorite North Park bar. On a regular night, Bacchus House’s staff is composed of quite a few pieces of eye candy. The only bad part of this Turnabout is I don’t get to see my favorite male bartenders serving up drinks, tops off, showing off their hot bodies… But they looked fierce in drag, and this is an event to look forward to for next year!
Papis everywhere
Can I say yummy? I hit the fourth anniversary party for Club Papi San Diego later on the same night. Rich’s was packed wall-to-wall with sexy Latino boys, mixed in with all the others like me who love Latin boys. The music was awesome, and there were two dance floors, which included a main room and a hip-hop room. Robin S. performed live and she was great! As is Papi tradition, there were tons of prize giveaways, but I’m never coordinated enough to catch anything they throw out into the crowd. Our friends at Club Papi totally exceeded our expectations, again! Don’t miss the next Club Papi party. Look for the ads here in Rocket magazine and in this column.
A holiday?
So there was a holiday in there. A lot of people didn’t realize, but Monday, Oct. 9, was Columbus Day. I’m one of the lucky few who got that day off of work, so Sunday, Oct. 8, was another night to party for me. I had heard that Club Extasis in Tijuana was a having Columbus Day/ Día de la Raza weekend party that night, and since I was still feeling the Latin flavor from the night before, I grabbed some friends and we headed down.
The club certainly has changed since I was there last (I stopped hitting the TJ circuit when I turned 21), but the place is still hopping with an energy that is hard to find at clubs here in San Diego. What has changed is this new dark-room maze addition. I won’t go into too much detail about what goes on in these rooms, but it sure is hot. It’s dark. It’s steamy. It’s packed with boys. And the hands are moving. I wasn’t sure whose hand was touching me quite a few times. But it’s a fun little experience that only TJ can offer. Definitely worth checking out! Just walk across the border and you’re at Extasis within minutes!

Jock straps!
Even more fun happened the next weekend. As our friends at Donkey Punch continue to bring their fabulous parties to Rich’s, we experienced “Donkey Punch: Athletics” on Saturday, Oct. 14. As these parties always are, this was definitely another “exhibition of uninhibitedness.” The ad said that if you wear a jock strap and show it off to the “coach” you’d get a little surprise. Well, I came in wearing my hot jock strap and got my free shot from coach. Coach was hot, and boy was that a good shot. I was wearing shorts over the jock strap, and I just had to give him a little peek. I certainly wouldn’t have had a problem showing coach more... but we won’t get into that.
Donkey Punch brings a party to Rich’s every month, so be on the lookout for the next one! These are also the people who bring you the fabulous SpinCycleRinse foam parties. If you’ve read this column in the past, you know I’m a big foam-party fan. I’m totally counting down the days until the next one coming up this Thanksgiving weekend on Nov. 25. See you in the foam!
Military Madness
This fabulous mid-October Saturday night was certainly not over yet. After a quick stop at The Brass Rail – a bar that is looking great these days (check out their hot new DJ booth, lounge area, renovated restrooms and more surprises to come) – I was off to Military Madness at Club Montage. My boyfriend just so happens to be in the Navy, so I had all the right “costume” pieces for this event. Donning his cute sailor hat, sailor necktie and dog tags, I headed down to the club. As is usual for a Saturday, the place was hopping, and DJ DAC played a great set. The special performance by Inaya Day was fantastic! The creators of Military Madness know how to put on a great party, and Montage is the perfect venue. The next Military Madness event is scheduled for Nov. 18 at Montage, with a live performance by Taborah. Don’t miss this “party for all those who serve, have served and love the military.”
Halloween
As if October hasn’t been “off the hook” enough, Halloween is here! As we have a Tuesday Halloween this year, the clubs will be hopping all weekend! Our favorite spots will be throwing some amazing parties Friday, Oct. 27, through Tuesday, Oct. 31. Rich’s always amazes the crowds every Halloween, so don’t miss their Salvation Thriller event on Saturday, Oct. 28. Also of note is Flicks’ Halloween Costume Contest on Oct. 31, with cash prizes! Check out this issue of Rocket and find out about all the other scary events going on this weekend! Send me your event info or comments to editor@uptownpub.com. Happy Halloween!
