here was much to see this last week in San Diego and abroad as well. With the White Party in Palm Springs taking main stage, I focused on the other hard-hitting events around town. From pink boas to chains and leather, there was plenty to do and see, and loads of sexual energy to release.

On any given Wednesday in San Diego, you can find whatever you want: upscale, low-key and both crowded and mellow bar scenes. But this last Wednesday was special. As onlookers and passersby glanced in to see what all the pink was about, many were drawn in and stayed all night, making Hamburger Mary’s 14-year anniversary party one of the biggest, wildest and most successful parties the restaurant/bar has ever had! The festivities began late afternoon, with cocktail tables on the patio and plenty of pink balloons and decorations. As the bar filled quickly, tray passers with samples of amazing food started in heavy rotation, and when things really picked up, there was a free buffet boasting some of Joey’s best creations, and even a champagne station run by drag queens. Some of these drag queens we have seen before, but there were others very new to the scene! You all looked amazing! As the evening continued, the chaos and celebration escalated into a blend of dancing, drinking and drunkenness. A huge thank you goes out to Chris and Doug, as well as all the staff that made this party one to be remembered. If you missed out on this one, kick yourself in the ass and make damn sure you catch it next year.

Where does one go if they are into rougher trade? You know, a place with guys that are a little more hairy, a bit beefy and dressed in leather – and at the same time still has great music to dance to? Rich’s, of course, for their once-a-month celebration of men and the Levi-leather scene. L. L. Bear has not only given a different twist to this popular hotspot, but has brought in a new breed of party goers. Remember, guys, this party is only held the third Saturday of every month, so leather up, get sweaty, and see why guys are calling this event one of the best dance parties around. GRRRRRRR!

More boys than you can shake your stick at, sexy bartenders and the best in deep house, lounge and electronic beats... sound interesting? Hell yeah, and you can find this and more every Friday night at Boys Night at The Flame. I arrived fashionably late; primo time seeing as how I am the type of guy that likes to strut in when the gettin’ is good – if you know what I mean. Once again, the kick-off to my weekend was not disappointing, and I left with a slightly larger crew than I arrived with!

Way before there was Brokeback Mountain, I was a fan of cowboys. I mean, come on! What’s not to like? Tight jeans with bulging packages – hot! Well get your asses ready, my friends, because the San Diego Gay Rodeo is back, and they aren’t stopping until we are all chafed from saddle burn! Not into the rodeo scene but still like the guys? Don’t worry, with events being held everywhere from Kickers to the The Eagle, there will be more than one chance to catch these guys in action. If you’re lucky, maybe you’ll even get a private roll in the hay, so to speak! I know I’m ready and waiting, so keep your eyes and ears open, bust out your shit kickers, and get ready to party with the good ol’ boys! Yeehaw!

Whether it’s the glitz and glamour, the dark and dirty or the lights and dance-floor beats, there were plenty of options this week to choose from, and with even more to come in the following weeks, you can only blame yourself if you miss out. So get off your ass and get out there. ’Til then, boys…
